| This approximately 40 km (25 mi) long ride is a bike-compatible sightseeing tour through Berlin. The route begins and ends at Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Berlin Central Station). Of course, it is also possible to start at any point on the route or to combine this ride with a long-distance route.

| In addition to the famous Berlin sights, this route also goes through less spectacular residential areas, park, alongside the Spree river und -- this has become possible only in 2010 -- across the airfield of former Tempelhof airport. The route goes through the city centers of both West and East Berlin, gets you to many historical locations, important architecture, popular local hangouts and cultural sites.

Before 1990 this was the border between West and East Berlin. Right after having crossed the canal, go across Invalidenstraße and follow the promenade along the canal. At the 3-way intersection with Charlottenstraße turn right and then left onto Liesenstraße. This used to be the location of the Chausseestraße border crossing. At the traffic circle underneath the railway overpass turn right onto Gartenstraße. Follow the cycle track to the Mauerpark.

Therefore we take a small detour through the green space next to the TV Tower, passing the Neptun fountain with the Marienkirche church in the background. Where you can cross Spandauer Straße depends on the currently ongoing construction. Go across the Marx-Engels Forum. Because of construction, the Marx-Engels monument has been moved near the Liebknecht bridge. Cross the Spree river here to get to Schlossplatz. On your right, there is the Berlin Cathedral and Museum Island. city hall. Richtung [http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urania-Weltzeituhr Weltzeituhr] überqueren, durch die S-Bahn-Unterführung und weiter aufeiner Fahrradspur Richtung [http://www.berlin.de/orte/sehenswuerdigkeiten/rotes-rathaus/ Rotes Rathaus]. Der gerade Weg Richtung Schlossplatz ist infolge Bauarbeiten an der Rathausbrücke und im Zusammenhang mit dem U-Bahnbau gegenwärtig gesperrt (Stand April 2011). Deshalb wird ein Umweg durch die Grünanlagen hinter dem Fernsehturm - vorbei am [http://www.berlin.de/orte/sehenswuerdigkeiten/neptunbrunnen/ Neptunbrunnen] (im Hintergrund die [http://www.marienkirche-berlin.de/de/start/ Marienkirche]) - genommen. Die Spandauer Straße wird baustellenabhängig überquert. Anschließend geht es durch das [http://www.berlin.de/orte/sehenswuerdigkeiten/marx-engels-forum/ Marx-Engels-Forum]. Das Marx-Engels-Denkmal wurde infolge der U-Bahn-Bauarbeiten dauerhaft in die Nähe der Liebknechtbrücke umgesetzt. Pass the Bundesdruckerei, printer of banknotes, passports, and stamps, and follow Kommandantenstraße until it ends. Cross Heinrich-Heine-Straße, former location of a larger border crossing between East and West Berlin.

| Wenn das o.g. Tor geschlossen ist, kann man den Landwehrkanal überqueren und im Anschluss an eine Rampe auf den nördlichen Kanaluferweg einbiegen. Beide Wege am Kanal sind am Wochenende bei schönem Wetter stark durch Fußgänger frequentiert. Auf der Lichtensteinallee durch den Tiergarten Richtung Siegessäule fahren. Man passiert das Café am Neuen See mit zahlreichen Fahrradstellplätzen und großem Selbstbedienungsbereich und anschließend die Spanische Botschaft.

| Unmittelbar vor dem Platz rechts halten und die Hofjägerallee an einer Fußgängerampel überqueren. Anschließend auf dem straßenbegleitenden Radweg entlang der Straße des 17. Juni oder auf dem parallel verlaufenden breiten Parkweg bis zur Bellevueallee fahren. Dort ohne Ampel die Straße überqueren und halbrechts in die Rüsternallee einbiegen. An deren Ende nach rechts in die Ahornallee fahren. In diesem Teil des Tiergartens treffen sich sonntags die türkischen Familien zum Grillen.

| Die John-Foster-Dulles-Allee überqueren und das [http://www.hkw.de/de/index.php Haus der Kulturen der Welt] umrunden. Das [http://www.tipi-am-kanzleramt.de/ Tipi am Kanzleramt] wird passiert und das Spreeufer erreicht. Nach rechts geht's auf einem Uferweg an der Rückseite des [http://www.bundeskanzlerin.de/Webs/BK/DE/Homepage/home.html Kanzleramts] vorbei. Kurz hinter der Moltkebrücke geht es durch einen Durchgang nach rechts auf eine Rampe, die hoch zu einer Fußgängerbrücke, dem Alsensteg, führt. Nach Überquerung der Spree endet die Tour auf dem Washingtonplatz am Hauptbahnhof.
